7:00PM Headliner Concert BEOLACH (The Hall, cash bar)

Beòlach

More than 20 years ago, six dynamic solo performers came together for a late-night session during Celtic Colours, and that was the spark that lit Beòlach. During the next decade, Beòlach continued to grow artistically through their innovative and exciting arrangements of traditional Cape Breton, Scottish and Irish tunes for fiddle, bagpipes, piano and guitar.

Their knowledge of, and passion for, this traditional music shows in their energy onstage, and the natural, easy wit and banter they exchange reflects lifelong friendships, a shared sense of fun, and years of experience as professional musicians. The band has delighted audiences throughout the world with their original compositions and unique arrangements of traditional tunes.

Beòlach has recorded two albums, earning nominations for East Coast Music Awards, and a Canadian Folk Music Award. Beòlach’s members have always maintained their solo careers and collaborated with some of the most renowned artists on the traditional music scene.

This latest album, All Hands, was released at the 2019 Celtic Colours International Festival where they were the Artists in Residence along with Scotland’s own Breabach. The recording shows the progression of their music fused with the traditions they have come from.

This year, 2021, that album garnered them 2 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Roots Traditional Album and Instrumental Album of the year, a nomination for 4 East Coast Music Awards of which they took home the coveted Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year award, and an impressive nomination for the Traditional Roots Album category for the Juno awards. Just recently, they have also been nominated for 3 Nova Scotia Music Awards including Entertainers of the Year!
